'One Day... He Came Back!'
Part One: Unearthly Children
Catch-Up: During a confrontation with an alien known as Atispro in the previous story, the Doctor dropped Clara off home after recollecting the Time War and the guilt it has left him with.
Clara waves goodbye, smiling tenderly as the TARDIS dematerialises. Inside, the Doctor runs circles around the TARDIS console, feeling eager to move onto the next location in hopes to cheer himself up. Flicking switches, pressing buttons and pulling leavers like there's no tomorrow, he pauses for a moment to take a quick look at the scanner. Laughing to himself with a huge grin, he runs around to the other side of the console before pulling one last leaver sending the TARDIS hurdling through space. He's always been excited when travelling, but never this excited. He was keen to take his mind off of the Time War, the guilt and pain it left him with. The TARDIS rotor roars while the Doctor secures himself against the console, trying to maintain safety as the TARDIS shakes rapidly. With a silent halt, the Doctor gazes to the doors, eager to get outside. He runs enthusiastically over to the doors before slowly opening them, allowing rays of light to shoot through the widening crack, lighting up the interior like a flame. 'Oh... yes. Just as I remember.' Says the Doctor, smiling. He steps out, eyes locked onto the view before him. He closes the doors behind him and gazes upon a bright red sun lighting up the sky beautifully. Beneath it was a blue sun, mixing with the red to create a lush purple tint over the horizon of the mountains far in the distance.

The Doctor stares at it's beauty in a moment of silence. Birds - not of Earth - tweet from all around as a gentle breeze flows through the air, brushing the Doctor's quiff ever so softly. He closes his eyes and smiles unintentionally, taking in all of the wonderful beauty and peacefulness around him. He takes a deep breath to emphasise his calmness. As the world around him feels silent and still, he's suddenly alerted to the Cloister Bell echoing from inside the TARDIS. Turning around, the Doctor sees the lantern above the TARDIS flashing worryingly. He rushes inside only to be greeted by sparks flying from all angles of the console while smoke pours viciously from the rotor. 'No, no, no, no, no!" Yells the Doctor in a frustrated worry. 'Don't do that... ARGH!' The Doctor takes off his jacket and throws it aside before running to the console. He tries pulling one of the leavers with difficulty whilst also trying to shield his face from the flying sparks. He can't understand what's going on, nothing could have possibly antagonised the TARDIS to do anything of this calibre. 'Argh! Come on... what happened?' Fighting the need to want to give up, he forces one of the leavers with all his strength, but the leaver fights back. 'R'AAAARGH!' His feed skid along the floor as he puts all of his effort into thrusting the one leaver forward. 'Click!' The leaver locks into place, causing the TARDIS to dematerialise once again. Small explosion from the rotor make for an even worse environment as one throws the Doctor to the floor - banging his head brutally in the process. Weak, and in pain, he slowly gazes up at flames originating from the top of the rotor and glass - once shielding the rotor - falling onto the console. He tries to crawl back to the console only to be countered by one of the two scanners collapsing and hitting him over the head. He stumbles back to the floor as the TARDIS destructs around him. The Doctor could feel himself drifting away, falling unconscious. He looks toward the console. Seeing the TARDIS in so much pain hurts him more than any of the destruction around him could...
It's been a number of minutes. The Doctor lays on the floor, still unconscious. The TARDIS is almost completely destroyed. Slowly opening his eyes, the Doctor regains consciousness, not being able to comprehend anything as the ringing in his ears overpowers the sound of explosions around him and the Cloister Bell still ringing loud. He finds enough strength to lift his head in an attempt to get a better look around him and, without helping it, he closes his eyes again as his head drops back to the floor.
'This isn't supposed to happen. Oh!' A strange voice exclaims. 'What are you doing?' The Doctor opens his eyes. He's suddenly awoken by the presence of a stranger. His vision fairly impaired as all he can make out is a blurred image of the TARDIS continuing to explode around him. He can feel himself drifting off again, feeling helpless in his current state until one more big bang forces the Doctor's eyes open in shock and fright. Still seeing a blurry image of his surroundings, he's much more awake. This time, he sees a figure roaming around the console, almost like a lost dog wandering around an unfamiliar street. 'This is nonsense!' The voice exclaims once again.

The Doctor slowly pulls himself to his feet to see glimpses of the figure fiddling about with the TARDIS at the other end of the console. The half destroyed rotor and overwhelming amount of smoke blocks the line of sight. The Doctor's adamant this is the saboteur, the cause of the TARDIS' violent outburst. Ignoring the devastation around him, the Doctor begins to walk around the console, trying to follow the strange man. Reaching the other side - where he last saw the intruder - he's greeted by nothing but the sparks, flames and smoke already existing in all areas of the console room. Puzzled, he paces a full 360 degree around the console searching desperately for whoever was just attempting to pilot the TARDIS only to find... nothing. He stands still for a moment, trying to deduce what's going on. He's startled suddenly! 'What are you doing on-board my ship, young man? Hmm?' The Doctor quickly turns around in shock - jaw loosened, leaving his mouth wide open, struggling to speak. 'I asked you a question, boy.' Said the man, 'Who are you and how did you get on-board my ship?' The Doctor stares in confusion and slight fear as the smoke slowly fades, revealing his first incarnation standing impossibly before him.
'I- uhh...-' The Doctor tries to speak, failing to find the right words. The First Doctor rudely lifts his index finger up to the Doctor's nose.
'I asked you a question, young man!' He says sternly. 'I- I heard the Cloister Bell- uh-- alarm!' Replies the Doctor, quickly correcting his words. 'I came to see what the trouble was.'
'Well, it's fine.' Says the First Doctor, gesturing for the Doctor to look around. 'Can't you see, young man? I've got everything under control.' The Doctor looks around to see sparks continue to spurt from the rotor as smoke flows around their feet and legs like a moat. The Doctor tries to relax as he watches the First Doctor return to the console - hoping to try and resolve the situation. The Doctor slowly wanders around the console, following the First Doctor. The Doctor recalls his trouble piloting the TARDIS single-handily during his early years. He was sure now would be no exception. The First Doctor takes a quick glance at the Doctor before huffing it off and continuing to work around the console. Something was obviously bothering him. But he didn't seem too concerned about a possible stranger being present. The Doctor was curious, and slightly worried as to why. The First Doctor leans over the console, hand clutched to his chin while he ponders over what controls to use. The obvious thing to do would be to clear the smoke - that way they could work better. The First Doctor was clearly having trouble.
'Ahem-extractor fans on-cough.' The Doctor says, concealing his mouth with his hand, disguising his words with a fake cough. The extractor fans roar as they consume all of the smoke, making vision much clearer. The roar alerts the First Doctor to their activation. 'Oh! Dear me.' The smoke slowly fades, leaving the sparks to flare and the flames to die down slightly. The Two wait patiently for a moment as the Doctor's eyes remain fixed on the First Doctor, the question of how he's hear runs circles in his head. The Cloister Bell stops instantly and the First Doctor looks around the TARDIS in confusion. He looks to the Doctor, frowns establishing his face.
'Hmm'yes. Well, you see?' The First Doctor begins to stroll around the console, pretending to look as though he knows what he's doing. 'All under control. Now-' Another alarm interrupts the First Doctor, but this time from the TARDIS scanner. The two Doctors thoughtlessly dive in front of the scanner, completely forgetting one another's presence. They look at the warning onscreen - "WARNING! REMATERIALISATION IN PROGRESS"

The TARDIS begins to dematerialise, throwing the two Doctors back as the leavers on the console work themselves. As if the TARDIS itself had stepped in and taken control. They both look on with worry, feeing completely helpless. The TARDIS has always been a temperamental machine but when something like this happens, who knows what the results could be. The two of them both grab hold of the railing as a sickly feeling grows in their gut.
The TARDIS hurdles through space, spinning as fast as a twister and as equally violent. Inside the two Doctors cling onto the railings for dear safety, swinging uncontrollably in the process.
'I need to-- Argh!' The violent turbulence hinders the Doctor's words. 'The stabilization switch-- there!' The Doctor nods in the direction of the switch as the First Doctor looks at him worryingly. He reaches his arm out, trying to reach the button with obvious difficulty. He'd need to let go if he were to reach the switch. There was at least three feet between them and the console. If he let go, he'd be flung about the room like a ragdoll. The First Doctor sees his difficulty and reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out his cane; almost like magic.
'Where did you get that?' The Doctor shouts in wonder.
'Oh, my dear boy... my pockets are bigger on the inside.' The Doctor laughs in delight and watches as the First Doctor outstretches his arm, attempting to flick the switch with his cane. After a few misses, the cane scrapes against the edge of the console, skimming past the buttons. So near yet so far. Sticking his tongue out for deeper concentration, he thrusts his cane once again at the console - aiming for the button. Miraculously, the cane strokes along the panel and flicks it with luck. The TARDIS begins to slow down and the engines begin to, almost, scream in pain. The two Doctors' faces light up in delight as they share a laugh of relief together, joying in their success. The TARDIS begins to stabilize allowing the two to manage it to their feet and walk to the console to make sure all is okay. 'I think we've landed' said the Doctor happily but still deeply worried. The Doctor walks over to the door and opens it slowly, wary of where they may have landed and what may confront them. He steps out and walks amongst a destroyed city street. Buildings lay in the rubble of their brothers. Cars - misshaped and battered - pollute the street and debris smothers the road like snow. The Doctor turns to the TARDIS and calls for the First Doctor.

'Doctor...? I think you best get out here'.
'Yes, yes. I'm coming, my boy. Give me a moment.' The First Doctor strolls to the TARDIS doors, supported by his cane. 'Oh! What in the world has happened out here?' The First Doctor slowly steps out of the TARDIS, one hand clutched to the side of his jacket, the other holding onto his cane. He looks around in complete despair, taking in all the damage and destruction. Sympathising with the pain of the Earth. He kneels down stiffly, clutching his back on his way down while still trying to maintain balance by holding his cane with firm grip. He reaches out and strokes the ground softly, his hand brushing an image in the thick debris. 'You don't think it has anything to do with us do you? Hmm?' The First Doctor says, having difficulty trying to stand.
'What do you mean?' Replies the Doctor; distracted by their surroundings, barely taking in the words.
'Well- well, the paradoxes. The two of us together in the same place and time'
The Doctor looks at the First Doctor for a moment in complete silence. 'You know?'
'Of course I know.' Said the First Doctor. 'You knew about the stabilization switch on the console and the manner in which you referred to it clearly implied it was familiar to you.' The Doctor's lost for words. What excuse can he come up with? Was there even any use? 'And you called me 'Doctor' without either of us introducing one another as of yet. Yes, dear boy. I know!' He giggled. The First Doctor walks over to a near-by block of concrete, laying on the road a few feet from the TARDIS. It seems to be a large portion of a building, collapsed onto the road. The Doctor thinks to himself for a moment. 'But, hold on!' He said.
'If you know about me, how didn't you notice the different desktop inside the TARDIS?' The First Doctor smiles.
'My boy, I hardly have time to fly the ship properly. How am I to notice something like that? Hmm?' The First Doctor makes himself comfy on the block of concrete, resting his cane up against it's side. The Doctor turns to investigate some more, believing the First Doctor was the least of his worries.. He walks over to a spot on the road that isn't massively covered by rock or debris. On the floor, just by his feet, was four bullet casings. He reaches down and picks up a handful of them, studying them greatly.
'Still warm' he claims before dropping them back onto the floor. As they hit the ground, the tinkering sound in which they would have originally made was completely absent through result of the debris. The Doctor immediately stands up to scan his surroundings. 'Somebody's been here recently.' He says, his eyes darting all over the area. The First Doctor remains sat on the concrete block
near the TARDIS. 'Whoever left them behind, were either defending themselves, or attacking someone else.'
'-Or something else...' The First Doctor exclaims suddenly on his feet. He knocks some small rocks back and fourth with his cane, almost as though he was making a little game out of it. He suddenly stamps the ground four times, securing his cane in place - rid of debris, rock and stone. 'Look around you, young man.' He says, gesturing his words. 'This is clearly Earth in the 21st Century. And you and I both know that the Earth doesn't end here. Something has invaded this planet.' The Doctor turns to look at him. 'Something with power far beyond that of human beings.' He looks to the floor hoping to find any possible clues. The Doctor begins pacing back and fourth, trying to think. Angry at himself for not knowing. His concentration is interrupted by a brief and distant sound, echoing throughout the devastated street. As the First Doctor continues to scan the area high and low, the Doctor slowly walks toward the right over toward shell of what was once a car left to rot. Ahead, between an overturned, aged lorry and mountain of rubble, he begins to make out a shape that appears to be getting closer every second. Moving closer himself for a better look, he climbs some of the rubble, squinting his eyes for better view. The sound begins to get louder and louder the closer the object gets. Dust in the air still blocks clear vision. Suddenly, the sound of a voice can be heard in the distance - exactly where the object is coming from.
'YOU...' The voice mutters; the rest of the words scrambled through distance. The Doctor tilts his head, hoping to get a better chance of hearing.
'Hello? Do you need help?' He shouts, turning his head back to listen for a reply.
'YOU WILL...' the voice still not very clear. The Doctor looks back to see the First Doctor watching in confusion but absolute concentration. He knows what's going on. 'It's okay, we're here to help!' Yells back the Doctor. The dust flowing gently through the air impairs the identity of whoever or whatever's coming.
'YOU WILL COME...' As the object gets closer, the speech becomes clearer. The words send a cold chill down the Doctor's back. He gulps in fear. Noticing what appears to be lights flashing from either side of the object's head, the Doctor realises what it is exactly that's getting nearer. He retreats instantly, stumbling down the mountain of rubble and toward the First Doctor - still staring in complete confusion.
'Where are you now?' Asks the Doctor short of breathe, and in a hurry.
'What?' The First Doctor replies, not fully grasping what he's trying to say.
'In your timeline, where are you now? Where have you come from? Where are you going?'
'What are you going on about, young man?' Demands the First Doctor.
'Skaro, have you done Skaro yet? The Thalls-- the Daleks?' Fear is obvious in the Doctor's eyes as they widen broadly, pupils enlarging. Before the First Doctor can reply, the two are distracted by a single Dalek slowly hovering through the gap between the lorry and rubble. Everything in it's shadow is cast with a dark tone, establishing the fear and evil it presents.
'YOU WILL COME WITH ME!' The Dalek draws nearer and it's words and voice strike fear into both Doctors.
'We don't have time!' The Doctor pulls the First Doctor aggressively with him as they run toward the TARDIS. The Doctor reaches into his pocket for the TARDIS key before the two are forcefully thrown back by what seems like a force field concealing the TARDIS inside. 'Oh!' Cries the Doctor. 'You can't do this! Not now. This isn't Marinus.' The two violently punch, slap and even launch themselves against the invisible force field knowing nothing will work, but believing it was worth the effort anyway. The Dalek gets nearer as it's words send chills down the back of their necks.
'YOU WILL COME WITH ME!" The Dalek approaches the two Doctors. The two stop and stare at it in fear. The sick, painful feeling inside their guts pulls them down, as if it were a weight holding them down. The Dalek aims it's gun stick at the two Doctors as they look down it's barrel fearfully and helplessly. A single tear runs down the Doctor's cheek. 'It's the end', he believes. The end of everything. The Dalek fires!
... Hours later, the two awake in a glass cage, on looking an empire of Daleks roaming high in the sky as well as patrolling the ground. They were all participating in something, almost as though they were working. But what for, was a mystery. They both stand and press themselves against the glass, staring at the horror and overwhelming amount of evil before them. An empire of Daleks. The devastation they can and have caused already.
'Yes!...' Says the First Doctor, killing the silence between the two. 'I have met the Daleks. On Skaro, and London in the 22nd Century.'
'Well, then... that saves time.' The Doctor crosses his arms and leans himself against the glass cage, feeling useless. He looks to the First Doctor, pondering around, looking for some sort of exit. 'But don't think past knowledge or hindsight's going to help us.' He says, the First Doctor's attention turning to him. 'These Daleks are different. Their hate has evolved and so has their intelligence. They're an even darker shade of evil.'
'So what do we do? Hmm? There must be a way to get ourselves out of here...' The First Doctor wonders about the empty cell again, looking for cracks, gaps or anything that could prove a useful escape.
'It's no use. It can only be opened from the outside, over there - look!' The Doctor points to a panel far ahead guarded by two patrolling Daleks. It seems to only work via a Dalek's control anyway. 'Unless... my screwdriver!' Says the Doctor, inducing hope. He pats his pockets feeling for it. 'I can use that to- no...' The Doctor stops himself mid-sentence, disappointment in his words.
'What is it, young man? Hmm? Do you have any ideas?' The First Doctor quickly walks over to the Doctor with his hand clutched again to his jacket collar. 'No-- well, I have a device - a sonic screwdriver.' The First Doctor listens curiously. 'It could possibly have gotten us out but... it's in my jacket... in the TARDIS... which is in a force field.' Before the First Doctor can reply, a Dalek emerges from the above and lands afoot of the glass cage.
'THE MASTER SUPREME WILL SEE YOU NOW!" Another Dalek opens the cage via the panel in the distance. The two Doctors step out quietly and proceed to follow the Dalek to a nearby elevator, which lifts the three to what seems like the top floor of the ship.
Reaching the top, the three step out of the elevator and enter a pitch black room. Resembling an empty warehouse. The only source of light came directly from the Dalek's eyestalk. Even that didn't last long as the Dalek returns to the elevator, returning to the below levels. The Doctors stand alone and wary of what's to come next. Confused and worried, the First Doctor reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small torch. As he lights it, the entire room lights up a clear, blinding white. As though heaven was around them. But this wasn't heaven! This was a Dalek ship. Even worse than hell. The room is vast and almost empty. Any sound would echo from every corner of the room four times over.
'APPROACH!'
A loud menacing voice echoes loudly, drawing their attention to the centre of the room, where a large - what looks to be a chair or throne - made up of steel and covered with layers of tubes and wires, stands proud and important dead centre. The pipes and wires incorporated into the throne connect to the floor. The Doctors look at each other nervously and begin to walk toward it. They're steps echo. The sound of their shoes tapping the ground resemble that of a ticking clock - ticking down until they stop. As they reach it, they begin to realise what it is. The Master Dalek! It's true form rests vulnerable on it's throne although it's size increased from that of any other Dalek. It looks frail and old yet proud and powerful. It's tenticles squirmer and it's single eye blinks constantly as it's brain throbs a redish-orange colour. It looks repulsive.
'STATE WHO YOU ARE!' Demands the Master Daleks with a deep, loud and intimidating voice. The First Doctor prepares to speak, hoping that the name 'Doctor' would be familiar to them and why they should be feared themselves. The Doctor knows exactly what he's going to say and so instantly steps in to stop him.
'No! it won't work.' He whispers, looking to the Master Dalek and again to the First Doctor. Clara-- my current companion-- did this thing, well, she didn't do it but... she... did. It's complicated and I can't really tell you but something happened and... well... they don't know who we are.' The First Doctor tilts his head, looking past his brow, eyes locked firm on the Doctor's face. He clutches tightly to his coat and turns to the Master Dalek.
'Yes, yes. Very well.' The Master Dalek's eye blinks while it's pupil focusses on his face. 'Let me ask you something. Tell me, Dalek: what have you done to Earth?' Asks the First Doctor taking full authority of the moment.
'WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT STATE OF PLANET EARTH.' The Master Dalek says. The floor vibrates through the deep tone of it's voice. 'WE CAME HERE DURING WHAT THE HUMANS REFERRED TO AS 'THE DARK DAYS''.
'Well, if you didn't do this, who did?' Asked the Doctor taking an interest.
'WE DON'T KNOW. AS WE ARRIVED, THE PLANET WAS ALREADY IN RUINS-' The First Doctor interrupts the Master Dalek.
'-So you saw that as an opportunity to take control hmm?... You were too weak to do it yourself so you took advantage of someone else's doing.' The First Doctor pokes fun at the Master Dalek. 'And then pretended as though you are the almighty Daleks who reign supreme over Earth. Is that right? Hmm?' The First Doctor begins to pace around the Master Dalek and his throne. The sound of his cane knocking the floor echoes throughout the room, bouncing off all corners. As he does so, the Doctor begins to question the Master Dalek. He was curious about what happened exactly. What were the dark days?
'Wait. So, you came here to find Earth already in ruins, took control of the human race by sending patrols out to capture survivors and then what?' The First Doctor analysis the set up of the throne. Taking note of each wire, pipe and electronic device connected. 'What's the gain?' Continues the Doctor. 'What do you do to your captives?'
'THEY WILL BE FORCED TO REBUILD . WE WILL TURN PLANET EARTH INTO THE NEW SKARO. THE NEW PLANET OF THE DALEKS!' Exclaims the Master Dalek. The First Doctor leans against his cane as he stands behind the Master Dalek's throne. 'And am I correct in assuming that you are the head of the operation? That you control all that the Daleks do?' The Master Dalek has trouble estimating the First Doctor's exact position as it's eye goes from left to right almost uncontrollably. 'And without you, your plans cannot succeed? Hmm?' The Doctor looks at the First Doctor, trying to understand his point. The Master Dalek pauses for a moment...
'I AM THE MASTER DALEK!' He shouts, trying to emphasise his dominance as a way of making up for his lack of words.
'Hmm'Yes, well, how does it feel to be defeated my an old man, hmm?' The First Doctor raises his cane and quickly slashes it at the pipes and wires - detaching them from the Master Dalek's throne - scattering them across the floor. The Master Dalek screams in agony and anger, alerting all Daleks on-board the ship. An alarm rings loud throughout the entire Dalek ship. 'We must get out of here! Come along, come along!' says the First Doctor, making his way in a hurry to the elevator they arrived in. The Doctor stands by calmly and watches the Master Dalek slowly die in pain.
'YOU... WILL... FALL!' - The last words that are muttered from the Master Dalek before closing it's eye signifying it's death. The Doctor understands it's words. He doesn't know what they mean exactly, but he's heard them before. The Fall of The Eleventh. Realising the dire situation they're in, he immediately turns around and sees the First Doctor already standing inside the elevator, calling for the Doctor's company. The Doctor runs to the elevator, trying to think of a way out along the way. Below, the faint voices of Daleks can be heard demanding the two Doctors' extermination. The Doctor looks along the operating system within the elevator to see that it's only accessible via a Dalek's assistance. 'I can't work it. Unless I had my screwdriver, there's no way out!' The words sound cold and unbearable.
'Yes, this screwdriver you mentioned. What is it?' Asks the First Doctor.
'There's no time-'
'-What is it?'
'It-- it's a sonic screwdriver: gold and silver thing with a green end. It can operate any system and it would be perfect right... now...' The Doctor stops to see the First Doctor holding the sonic before his eyes with a huge smile. 'Where did you get that?' The Doctor asks, snatching the screwdriver from his hands and kissing it in relief.
'While you got out of the TARDIS to look around, I checked your jacket pocket and found this inside. It looked important. Yes- yes. Indeed! Hmm'hmm' the First Doctor giggles. The Doctor smiles 'Indeed!'. He points it at the operating systems. The sonic lights up and emmits the high-pitched sound, sending the elevator hurdling downward.
'Quick! Against the sides' yells the Doctor. Instantly, the two press themselves up against the inside of the door frame, inserting their safety from sight of the floors of Daleks they pass. Most Daleks begin firing at the active elevator. Few lazer bolts manage to get inside but luckily away from harming either Doctor.
As they reach the bottom of the ship, they exit the elevator, finding themselves outside in the fresh air. As they look up, they see the Dalek ship has been landed in the centre of London, destroying a lot of the surrounding landmarks and buildings. The ship's invisibility filter deactivates revealing the ship exploding from top to bottom. The grey overcast is now flooded with a bright orange as the flames engulf the ship.
'The force field must have been disabled' said Doctor in relief as he notices the TARDIS far in the distance - away from the explosion, safe and sound.
'Indeed, my boy.' Replied the First Doctor. The two make their way to the TARDIS in a hurry, eager to leave the area. As they reach the TARDIS, they're surprised by the sudden presence of two people - a man and a woman - who have emerged from behind, pointing rifles at the two Doctors. They both raise their hands in the air while the man and woman approach. Their clothes look ragged, filthy and old. Dirt on their faces hide their features as debris taints the colour of their hair. 'Did you do that?' asked the woman, nodding at the exploding Dalek ship in the distance. The Doctor stares directly into her eyes without blinking. His way of saying yes without words. She looked at her partner, the man, and the two smiled at each other. 'Is it over?' she asked eagerly. Her partner turns to the Doctor as if to ask.
'Yes' the Doctor says. Lowering his arms. 'That's the primary source to any Dalek machine or equipment existing on Earth. Without that ship functioning...' The Doctor turns to look back at the destroyed ship and back again to the man and woman, 'Which it doesn't look to be... you're free. No more Daleks!' The man looks to the woman who stares at him adamantly, her face lit up in delight. They both drop their rifles as the woman, without hesitation, runs into the man's arms. The two Doctors, now relaxed, watch and smile. They feel at ease knowing that safety is ensured.
'Come on guy! It's over! The whole war... it's over!' The woman shouts as dozens of people step out from behind piles of concrete, destroyed cars and walls. They all take one look at the ship and cheer before hugging each other and joying in the victory and freedom now cast upon them. The First Doctor giggled and proceeds to enter the TARDIS while the Doctor stands by, watching. The woman walks to the Doctor, leaving the man to join in the brief celebration. She stares at him for a moment before pulling him close, kissing him tenderly on the cheek.
'Oh! Thank you!' Said the Doctor blushing as he smooth's his cheek, 'But it wasn't me. It was-' The woman understands what he's trying to say. 'Well, kiss him for me too!' She looks to the TARDIS - seeing it as nothing but a dirty old box. She, the man and the dozens others proceed to roam the streets. Fully exploring in peace. something they haven't seemed to be allowed to do for a very long time.
The Doctor walks over to the TARDIS and looks back at the people before entering. Human beings - preparing for a new start. A new life. He enters the TARDIS to find the First Doctor sitting down on the chair.
'You know, dear boy? Defeating a Dalek empire and destroying their control ship really takes it out of me.' He laughs. 'The Doctor laughs too and begins to casually fiddle with the console. 'So, how did you know?' asked the Doctor curiously. 'How did you know that would stop them?'
'Well, you recall the Master Dalek's brain glowing?' The Doctor nods. 'An electrical charge being pumped into it from it's throne. It was clearly dying so the entire throne acted as a life support, you see? Hehe. The wires and pipes incorporated into it used the ship's power to keep him alive creating a link between the two. The ship kept him alive as he kept the ship alive. Without him, the ship had no function so it self destructs as well as most operating systems failing - that's how the force field around the TARDIS is now gone.' Says the First Doctor enthusiastically and full of joy. The Doctor leaves the controls be and rests against it's side
'That is brilliant.' The Doctor says, smirking largely. 'But, there's still some unanswered questions: If the Daleks didn't do this to Earth, then who did?' He asks. 'Whoever they are, they managed to take control of the TARDIS to bring us here. But why? The two of us, brought together and brought here? What's the significance?' The Doctor gestures his hands to put emphasis to his words. The First Doctor sits by thinking hard. The Doctor returns to fiddling about with the console. 'I guess we need to find out.'
Next time... Part Two: Reclaiming Earth - 24th November!
'No! it won't work.' He whispers, looking to the Master Dalek and again to the First Doctor. Clara-- my current companion-- did this thing, well, she didn't do it but... she... did.
