Each figure is made out of metallic resin and hand painted carefully and wonderfully to get the best quality. The guide also provides some brief, yet interesting information for each of the eleven Doctors.
Subscribers will also receive a Dalek Emperor figurine (worth over £30) standing at an impressive 22cm tall! Along with this, you'll also get a free binder to keep your magazines safe and sound (worth up to £6.99) and lastly a digital edition available for download on iPad, iPhone and iPod allowing you to read your magazine from a digital library wherever you are.
The Magazine
The magazine itself is dedicated to the featured figurine and tells you which episode the figurine is based from and which particular moment. In issue #1's case, it's the Eleventh Doctor from The Pandorica Opens. Inside, you're greeted with tons of information on the particular figurine and it's respectful scene within the episode. There's chapter titles on the first page with a short bios informing you on what each chapter's about. Page 2 talks about the Eleventh Doctor and his outfit and what may have inspired it as well as some more information on the figurine, noting the specific detail of the figurine. The remaining pages talk of the specific scene in episode commonly referred to as the 'Pandorica speech' and gives some filming information at Stonehenge. There's also a very nice section dedicated to the show during 1963 and some of the other historic media during that year. I'll leave everything else for you to read and love.
The back cover simply gives you an in-scale image of the figurine that will come with the following issue (in this case, issue #2 and Davros) and some teasers about what the next magazine talks about.
Now, onto what the collection's really about; the figurine. I'll start of by saying that my figurine in particular has a slightly sloppiness to the paint job but given the size and the fact it was hand painted, it's understandable. But it's really not all that bad. In fact, it's hardly noticeable unless you look at it really close. But if yours suffers from a similar problem, don't let that distract you from the amazing job put into it. The detail really is amazing and they really did go all out. The detail ranges from the patterns on Eleven's shirt right the way up to his communicator, braces, bow-tie, buttons and even turn ups. Not to mention his socks and surprisingly accurate boots. The stand beneath him is made of the same metallic resin and looks perfect beneath the figurine's feet. Underneath the stand, there's a felt protection to avoid scrapes and scratches and also includes your figurine's production number. In my case, 205. Now, rather than ramble on, below are a number of images.
