Issue #2 of the Doctor Who Figurine Collection released on Thursday, and this time, it's dedicated to the master of the Daleks, and the Doctor's most feared enemy, Davros!
The magazine is packed with information about Davros and his appearances over the years; from 1975 right the way up to 2008 and compares his most recent appearance to the accuracy of the figurine that comes with the issue. It's also filled with trivia relating to his costume and prosthetics designer, Neill Gorton's, design choices about what he wanted to keep, change, add or remove. It also gives some information on the actors who have portrayed Davros through the years from Michael Wisher who played the character in Genesis of The Daleks to Julian Bleach who brilliantly played him in series 4's epic finale two-parter, The Stolen Earth and Journey's End.

There's really not much to say about the magazine that hasn't really been said in the previous review for issue #1. The magazines basically have the same segments only changed to relate to it's respectful character. So, on that note, let's move onto the figurine...
Figurine
The figurines are by far the most exciting thing of this collection simply because it's exciting to see the accuracy, detail and perfection. With my 11th Doctor figurine, the quality of the paintwork was slightly off with some missing paint for his hair, red paint from his braces being a bit mucky as it can be seen on his shirt and the shirt's paint can be found on his jacket. This time 'round, the paintwork is a lot more decent with only minor errors barely noticeable. Though this is expected for all figurines due to their size and method of painting.
However, the error that stood out the most for me was the sculpting. Davros' arm rest on his left is slightly bad with the sculpt slightly out of place. Other than that, a quality figurine that is much more impressive in person than in images and videos and has a fantastic likeness to Julian Bleach's interpretation of the character.

The thing that was most apparent when I took the figurine out of it's packaging was the sheer weight of it. I know it's made of resin but the weight was still quite a shock that my hand dropped quite enormously when I first held it. The weight of it is mainly due to the overall sculpt of Davros' chair/Dalek base.
The figurine doesn't feature a stand like the 11th Doctor or other characters in the collection since it would be obviously unnecessary because of the Dalek base. This is the same with all Dalek figurines in the collection. The only downside to this is; when compared to other characters (11th Doctor for example) the height difference isn't to scale. However, this isn't really a problem. Just a noticeable difference.
Davros' chair is marvellously done with great accuracy to the original prop with even small detail paid to such things as bolts at the base of the chair accompanied by a real metallic look to it. The control panel is very accurate to the original seen in the series 4 finale and surprisingly well painted. However, be warned about the back support behind Davros' back. The part that stretches up above his head is quite exposed to snapping. While I removed it from the packaging, I noticed it bend slightly and, to be sure, I fiddled with it slightly to see that it's quite weak and likely to break with a strong enough force. So be careful and take great care when handling it.

Well, that's it. Another great figurine to go along with a good read! I expect some paintwork and sculpt errors to occur on every figurine (obviously they'll differ) so if yours does have one, don't fret. Due to their small size and hand-painting method, it's expected although can sometimes be hard to look past if they stand out enough. But still, a great collection none-the-less.
